*sniff*

ACHOO! ugh. I hate being sick. Thanks to a friend of mine, I've got a fever, sinus pressure, a headache, runny/stuffy nose, and an itchy/sore throat. Not to mention that I hurt EVERYWHERE! *cough*. I feel like a train wreck. (actually, I wouldn't know what a train wreck feels like, but I'm sure its pretty darn close to how I feel. I had to miss art class yesterday, and I really wanted to go--we were gonna learn how *coughcough* to draw *cough* bears! *sniff*. I godda go get sumb tissue.

Guitars and the Internet

For those of you who don't know, I play guitar--kind of. My friend's mom (who is, btw, totally AWESOME!) taught me the basics, and a few songs. Well, yesterday at about 10:00 pm I decided I wanted to learn more. I researched the internet for free guitar lessons and tabs (after I figured out how to read tabs) to my favorite songs. I am now attempting to teach myself how to play at least as good as Ben Kasica (guitarist from the Christian rock band, Skillet.) I swear, by the time this month is over (is it October yet? If it's still September, then I mean by the end of October) I will know how to play "Monster". If I can figure out how to do it, then maybe I'll post a vid of me playing it :)

I need a hearing aid

Sorry, but I don't know how to spell ginnee pig. You know, those overgrown hamsters? I WANT ONE! One of my BFFs got two--and they're adorable!! They are just the cutest little furballs! Okay, so over the phone she was telling me their names, and I thought it was Raymond and Rhea, but it was Leah and Raisin! (I think). So when I went over there, I was like "Which one's Raymond?" and my friends started laughing at me like it was joke of the century.

Another time, me and my friends were at a sleepover, and we were going put-put golfing. So my friends started talking about how much fun it was, and I thought they said "Public Elfing". Again with the laughs. I have officially decided that I need a hearing aid--before I mess up really bad!

I think the cause of my hearing disability is because my younger brother (in this post he will be reffered to as "SU#2 (Sibling Unit #2) is very hyper and LOUD! I guess he's a relatively nice kid, but he likes asking questions (must be a "thing" with boys). If anyone reading this has this problem, please tell me how to fix it!

Drawing Class 2

The

Hey guys!

After much deliberation, I decided to post my latest "drawings" from art class. If you haven't seen the first post about it, go find it. So anyway, last night we had to draw a house using the perspective drawing techniques that the teacher showed us. I actually thought it was pretty cool (btw, the lines you see that kinda look like they're supposed to make the house look shiny are my perspective lines--I just didn't bother to erase them). The third picture is the house (obviously), and the second picture (less obviously) supposed to be a basket with a pumkin sitting in front of it, but I couldn't draw it right. I tried again, and that's the first picture. I now hate baskets and pumpkins. Houses are alright. At least this might make some people feel better about their supposedly non-existent drawing skills :) Peace out!

SKILLET RELEASED TWO NEW MUSIC VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't know already, I'm a HUGE fan of the Christian rock band, Skillet. They released a new album last month, and about two weeks ago (even though I found out two days ago for some reason) they released music videos to two of their new songs: "Monster", and "Hero". Check out the links below:

Hero:

Monster (my fave!)

Buy their new album "Awake". Just do it. You won't regret it. I promise.

More About Desserts

Remember when I said I might post a picture of my apple strudels that I made for Rosh Hashana? Well, um, I kinda forgot. Between school, baking, and frantically running around trying to find something to wear for the special church service, taking photos wasn't foremost in my mind. (btw, I think I'm going to make "foremost" the word of the day. I'm not really sure why.) Anyway, it came out GREAT! I made two 1 1/2 foot long strudels, and they were both gone in about 10 minutes! (that's a new record for me--usually it takes about 15-20 minutes (that's not to brag or anything ;) You shoulda' seen the plate--it was awesome. Unfortunately, I only got a 2x2-inch piece. *growlsinanger* I really will try to take a picture of the next thing I bake.

Also, I got an awesome art set yesterday! (yay me! *rapid clapping*) It's got, like, 12 different pencils. I didn't know that there were so many different kinds of pencil lead. It's a little confusing. Tommorow I get to use it--I'll post my picture here on Wednesday or something--if I'm not too embarassed by it :)

Don Quixote

One of the books I have on a free-reading list for school is Don Quixote (that's kwo-TEE, not kwix-OTE). I didn't feel like reading the original, so I used this version:

http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=baldwin&book=quixote&story=_contents

It's edited like nobody's-business, but it was fun to read. Check it out--it's a way to read classic literature without hurting your brain (if you're that kind of person. I'm not, but I like simple reads sometimes)

*Disclaimer:* I don't own anything

New Year in September

Happy New Year everyone! Tomorrow is New Year's Eve in Israel. (How would I know? I'm not Jewish, but I do go to a congregation whose main mission is to lead Orthodox Jews and people in urban communities to Christ (yes, I am a Christian and proud of it, so if you have a problem, you can stop reading this). Before I started attending services at my current church home, I went to a church where at least 80% of the members were Messianic Jews. So that's how I know all the Jewish holidays.)

On the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana), Jewish people and some Gentiles (like me) celebrate the New Year by reading the Torah (fancy word for "Bible"), and making and eating desserts themed around apples and honey. The apples and honey are eaten as a kind of tradition, and many believe that this will ensure a sweet New Year. Then everybody gets sugar-high, and collapse on their beds at home. It's a lot of fun--especially the eating part. I'm making and bringing an apple strudel to church--maybe I'll post a picture of it. :-)

Drawing Class!

Okay, most of you don't know this, but I have a small cookie "business". Okay, its not a "business", 'cause I don't have time for that, but I make decorated cookies for family and friends. Well, someone at our church asked me for some Model T cookies. They were okay, but they weren't my best work. So I decided to take a drawing class through the local school system (yeah, you can do that even if you're homeschooled, FYI). Last night was my first class. I was really nervous about going because I didn't know what the people would be like, or if the teacher was nice. But everything turned out okay--the teacher was great, and my classmates were nice (even though I was the youngest by about 6 years. I can't even drive yet! I'd say everyone else there was aged from maybe 18-60ish.). At the end of the class, we had to draw a basket. The lady I was sitting next to was a really good artist. I mean, I could actually tell that it was a basket! I don't know if I think that because I'm horrible at drawing, or if she really was good. I don't pay much attention in art appreciation class, so I probably wouldn't know. My basket turned out better than I thought it would though, so that's a good thing. :-)

Sir Thomas More

Oh, joy! Today I read a play about Sir Thomas More (basic down-lo on TM: He wrote a biography about a sadistic, maniac killer-king named Richard III. I think he was a lawyer.) It's called a Man for All Seasons or something. Not very interesting. Unfortunately, I am doomed to read the whole book for school. Too bad I can't read Eragon. Or House. Or even Winnie-the-Pooh, like my lil' bro. Hmmmm....I'm hungry. Don't feel like cooking (even though I'm pretty good, IMHO). How about candy? Yeah, that's a good idea. Rot my teeth out and all. Oh, I really gotta find something to eat.
