Change is inevitable...except from vending machines

Hey guys!

I know I haven't written in a while, but that's because I didn't have much time, what with all the holidays and me baking my tail off. On top of that, my family is moving. I'm not very happy about that, because my friends will be triple the distance. Sure, my mom says we can have more sleepovers, but I'm still mad. I don't even get my own room out of the deal! The only good thing that will come out of this for me is that I will be a resident of Troy, MI, which means I will have access to their awesome library (yeah, I'm a book freak). So my life is changing. Even things that I though I could count on are changing--such as the fact that I don't get New Year's week off anymore because "We will have to take the week we are moving off; we can't afford to take both weeks off!" (quote from my mom this morning). I don't like this change very much. The only change that I didn't get so far is when I tried to get my change back from the depths of the vending machine at our church. I shouldn't have trusted that thing. *sigh* another dollar lost within the lightless realm of the stealing vending machines.

I've always wanted to do this...

These guys are living every pyromaniac's dream: Microwaving random stuff. In this vid, they microwave a few iPhones: (p.s. I suggest you skip to 1:30 since that's where the action starts)

Unfortunately, my mom won't ever let me conduct such an awesome experiment. I mean, I could seriously learn a lot about...uh...whatever happens in microwaves! Ugh. Life hates me.

Another Thing That Frustrates Me...

So I'm sure all of you have heard the awesome song "Fireflies" by Owl City. It's awesome because it's about insomnia (which I am an unfortunate victim of). But some people seem to share a different opinion. These people tend to be adults. First of all, if you haven't heard it, then watch it. See? I've conveniently put it here just for you:

All the kids I've asked have said the following:

Kid #1: Dude! That song is so stupid that it's awesome!
Kid #2: Omigosh that song is so retarded. But it's kinda cool.
Kid #3: Whoa! New fave song!

And here are the adults:

Adult #1: Is he on recreational drugs?
Adult #2: That guy sounds like he's high.
Adult #3: Are you sure it's about insomnia? It sounds like a drug addict.

So I was wondering if anybody else out there thinks that he's high, or that he's just awesome.

Oh, yeah, here's a stupid video I found:

Things that Tick Me Off...

For no real reason, I decided to make a list of things that make me tick:

(1) Bikinis. Come on! That's like stepping out in your underwear!
(2) Shorts that put the "short" in "shorts". No one wants to see what color underwear you have on.
(3) People that pick their noses and then eat the boogers. *shudders*
(4) Other people's sweaty feet.
(5) Dry French Fries. They taste like sawdust.
(6) Badly cooked, seasoned, or deboned fish. If it's badly cooked, it tastes like that nasty fish smell with a hint of "Essence de Armpit". If it's badly seasoned, it don't taste like nothin'. If it's badly deboned, that just stinks.
(7) Most people's little brothers. Including mine. Little sisters usually aren't as bad.
(8) Whenever people get too obsessed with someone. Like the "Twi-Hards" (over-obsessive Twilight fans), which brings me to the next thing that ticks me off.
(9) Anything to do with Twilight. Especially if it has something to do with Robert "Edward" Pattinson or that idiot Bella.
(10) Burnt food.
(11) When someone has to explain something to me more than 3 times. (it happens more often than you might think)
(12) When people assume things too quickly. Like, a lot of people I know think I am or wanna be goth because I like black clothes with plaid patterns. ^^ ugh. Or like when someone thinks thatI'm extra smart 'cause I'm homeschooled. Sorry, you're gonna be disappointed. I'm only about 30% smarter than the average kid on the block. ;)
(13) When people stand too close to you while talking.
(14) #13 combined with bad breath.
(15) When younger siblings don't shut up.

I guess that's all for now. Maybe I'll make a list of things that I absolutely love. Or a book list or something. My life is steadily getting more boringer.

ENTER THE CONTEST!

So I told you about Skillet before, right? In case you still don't know, they are practically the best Christian rock band in existence. There's a contest going on where you can get free tickets to their concert. Here's the link:

http://inorecords.com/skillet/streetteamcontest/

They're working really hard to promote their new album and the "Awake" tour, which features Hawk Nelson, The Letter Black, and Decyfer Down.

Buy their new album "Awake" if you haven't already, and if you don't know who skillet is, check out their website: http://www.skillet.com/awake.php

Seek Advice Here!

Today I have a sewing lesson with my best friends. Normally, its a fun thing where we spend more time giggling and cracking jokes than sewing. But this time I will have to go home early. Why? Because I have to babysit public enemies #1 and #2 (aka my lil' sis and bro) because my mom's going...somewhere; I'm not really sure where. *sigh* the things I sacrifice for them.

Aside from that, I'm really excited because I found a new website that gives me all updates on Christopher Paolini's 4th book in the Inheritance Cycle! Oh, and of course there's the release of the deluxe version of Brisingr to be excited about! (i think i'll sell my unspecial copy of Brisinger on Ebay and buy the deluxe instead)! And my fave band got a new website! And I joined Yahoo! Answers and my first answer was chosen as "Best Answer" WOOHOO! Yay me! I am now the Supreme Advice Person-Thingy. I am SO unloved...

This morning I was being smart-mouthed to my mom, and she jokingly told me to leave. She told my younger brother to say goodbye. Instead of saying "No, I don't want Skippy to leave!" he says "I'll wait for her to get her shoes on. Then she has to get all her stuff and her suitcase. And she has to make me cookies. Then she can leave". Thanks, lil' bro. I'm really feeling the love (rolls eyes)

If You Give a Chef a Broken Refrigerator...

Last weekend, our fridge broke. That's right. We have one of those double refrigerators--ya know, the ones with the freezer on one side and the fridge on the other. The fridge side broke, so we had to move all the food into coolers on the porch, and into our car (welcome to Michigan--the weather's cold enough to do that here). For a week, we had to go outside to get anything like milk, eggs, etaka. It totally messed up my plans--I had planned to make up some new recipes (I really like cooking) that I had to get my mom to go shopping for, but with no fridge, my hopes went up in smoke. But I did get to make "bangers and mash", a British dish with potatoes, gravy, and sausage all baked in a casserole dish. Yum! Anyway, usually, (being a homeschool family), my dad would have fixed the whole situation (he's an engineer) within a day, but of course, his job decided to send him to North Carolina for a week. WHY?!?!?! Life hates me.

Chef Boyardee is my enemy!

Today right before art class, my mom force-fed me Chef Boyardee ravioli. That stuff is absolutely gross! Not only is it canned, but it just doesn't look right--the beef isn't brown: it's a sick kind of gray. The pasta is way too soft, and the sauce tastes like that excuse for sauce they give you at Arby's--only thick and more tomatoey. *shudders* I have bad memories of Chef Boyardee from childhood. After eating Spagetti-O's once, I nearly messed on myself (gimme a break, I was only 6) at school (yeah, I used to go to a public school). The teachers noticed my oddly pale face, and asked if I was okay. I miserably nodded yes, then tried to puke into the toilet later on. It didn't work because I guess canned ravioli blocks you up. I was constipated for 2 days last time I ate that stuff. Pray that I don't die cause I ate it today.

Cookies vs. Popcorn

A few days ago my little brother Mike joined a division of Boy Scouts--Tiger Cub Scouts. You know how Girl Scouts sell those heart-attack-inducing cookies? Well, Boy Scouts sell popcorn. I love popcorn (of course we're buying some), and I also really like the coconut cookies from Girl Scouts. So I was wondering which one you guys like? Cookies or popcorn? Popcorn or cookies? I can't decide. Lucky for me, I know a Girl Scout, and my little punk brother's a Boy Scout now. I'm thinking of joining a division of Boy Scouts (calm down--it's for girls and boys) call Venturing. It looks like a lot of fun--and best of all: I sell cookies and popcorn!

I feel like a train wreck. (actually, I wouldn't know what a train wreck feels like, but I'm sure its pretty darn close to how I feel. I had to miss art class yesterday, and I really wanted to go--we were gonna learn how *coughcough* to draw *cough* bears! *sniff*. I godda go get sumb tissue.

Guitars and the Internet

For those of you who don't know, I play guitar--kind of. My friend's mom (who is, btw, totally AWESOME!) taught me the basics, and a few songs. Well, yesterday at about 10:00 pm I decided I wanted to learn more. I researched the internet for free guitar lessons and tabs (after I figured out how to read tabs) to my favorite songs. I am now attempting to teach myself how to play at least as good as Ben Kasica (guitarist from the Christian rock band, Skillet.) I swear, by the time this month is over (is it October yet? If it's still September, then I mean by the end of October) I will know how to play "Monster". If I can figure out how to do it, then maybe I'll post a vid of me playing it :)

I need a hearing aid

Sorry, but I don't know how to spell ginnee pig. You know, those overgrown hamsters? I WANT ONE! One of my BFFs got two--and they're adorable!! They are just the cutest little furballs! Okay, so over the phone she was telling me their names, and I thought it was Raymond and Rhea, but it was Leah and Raisin! (I think). So when I went over there, I was like "Which one's Raymond?" and my friends started laughing at me like it was joke of the century.

Another time, me and my friends were at a sleepover, and we were going put-put golfing. So my friends started talking about how much fun it was, and I thought they said "Public Elfing". Again with the laughs. I have officially decided that I need a hearing aid--before I mess up really bad!

I think the cause of my hearing disability is because my younger brother (in this post he will be reffered to as "SU#2 (Sibling Unit #2) is very hyper and LOUD! I guess he's a relatively nice kid, but he likes asking questions (must be a "thing" with boys). If anyone reading this has this problem, please tell me how to fix it!

Drawing Class 2

The

Hey guys!

After much deliberation, I decided to post my latest "drawings" from art class. If you haven't seen the first post about it, go find it. So anyway, last night we had to draw a house using the perspective drawing techniques that the teacher showed us. I actually thought it was pretty cool (btw, the lines you see that kinda look like they're supposed to make the house look shiny are my perspective lines--I just didn't bother to erase them). The third picture is the house (obviously), and the second picture (less obviously) supposed to be a basket with a pumkin sitting in front of it, but I couldn't draw it right. I tried again, and that's the first picture. I now hate baskets and pumpkins. Houses are alright. At least this might make some people feel better about their supposedly non-existent drawing skills :) Peace out!

If you don't know already, I'm a HUGE fan of the Christian rock band, Skillet. More About Desserts

Remember when I said I might post a picture of my apple strudels that I made for Rosh Hashana? Well, um, I kinda forgot. Between school, baking, and frantically running around trying to find something to wear for the special church service, taking photos wasn't foremost in my mind. (btw, I think I'm going to make "foremost" the word of the day. I'm not really sure why.) Anyway, it came out GREAT! I made two 1 1/2 foot long strudels, and they were both gone in about 10 minutes! (that's a new record for me--usually it takes about 15-20 minutes (that's not to brag or anything ;) You shoulda' seen the plate--it was awesome. Unfortunately, I only got a 2x2-inch piece. *growlsinanger* I really will try to take a picture of the next thing I bake.

Also, I got an awesome art set yesterday! (yay me! *rapid clapping*) It's got, like, 12 different pencils. I didn't know that there were so many different kinds of pencil lead. It's a little confusing. Tommorow I get to use it--I'll post my picture here on Wednesday or something--if I'm not too embarassed by it :)

Don Quixote

One of the books I have on a free-reading list for school is Don Quixote (that's kwo-TEE, not kwix-OTE). I didn't feel like reading the original, so I used this version:

http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=baldwin&book=quixote&story=_contents

It's edited like nobody's-business, but it was fun to read. Check it out--it's a way to read classic literature without hurting your brain (if you're that kind of person. I'm not, but I like simple reads sometimes)

*Disclaimer:* I don't own anything

New Year in September

Happy New Year everyone! Tomorrow is New Year's Eve in Israel. (How would I know? I'm not Jewish, but I do go to a congregation whose main mission is to lead Orthodox Jews and people in urban communities to Christ (yes, I am a Christian and proud of it, so if you have a problem, you can stop reading this). Before I started attending services at my current church home, I went to a church where at least 80% of the members were Messianic Jews. So that's how I know all the Jewish holidays.)

On the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashana), Jewish people and some Gentiles (like me) celebrate the New Year by reading the Torah (fancy word for "Bible"), and making and eating desserts themed around apples and honey. The apples and honey are eaten as a kind of tradition, and many believe that this will ensure a sweet New Year. Then everybody gets sugar-high, and collapse on their beds at home. It's a lot of fun--especially the eating part. I'm making and bringing an apple strudel to church--maybe I'll post a picture of it. :-)

Drawing Class!

Okay, most of you don't know this, but I have a small cookie "business". Okay, its not a "business", 'cause I don't have time for that, but I make decorated cookies for family and friends. Well, someone at our church asked me for some Model T cookies. They were okay, but they weren't my best work. So I decided to take a drawing class through the local school system (yeah, you can do that even if you're homeschooled, FYI). Last night was my first class. I was really nervous about going because I didn't know what the people would be like, or if the teacher was nice. But everything turned out okay--the teacher was great, and my classmates were nice (even though I was the youngest by about 6 years. I can't even drive yet! I'd say everyone else there was aged from maybe 18-60ish.). At the end of the class, we had to draw a basket. The lady I was sitting next to was a really good artist. I mean, I could actually tell that it was a basket! I don't know if I think that because I'm horrible at drawing, or if she really was good. I don't pay much attention in art appreciation class, so I probably wouldn't know. My basket turned out better than I thought it would though, so that's a good thing. :-)

Sir Thomas More

Oh, joy! Today I read a play about Sir Thomas More (basic down-lo on TM: He wrote a biography about a sadistic, maniac killer-king named Richard III. I think he was a lawyer.) It's called a Man for All Seasons or something. Not very interesting. Unfortunately, I am doomed to read the whole book for school. Too bad I can't read Eragon. Or House. Or even Winnie-the-Pooh, like my lil' bro. Hmmmm....I'm hungry. Don't feel like cooking (even though I'm pretty good, IMHO). How about candy? Yeah, that's a good idea. Rot my teeth out and all. Oh, I really gotta find something to eat.

SKILLET RELEASED TWO NEW MUSIC VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't know already, I'm a HUGE fan of the Christian rock band, Skillet. They released a new album last month, and about two weeks ago (even though I found out two days ago for some reason) they released music videos to two of their new songs: "Monster", and "Hero". Check out the links below:

Hero:

Monster (my fave!)

Buy their new album "Awake". Just do it. You won't regret it. I promise.
